I have floated between more than 8 different locations with Wellness Pharmacy and have made some amazing friendships with my colleagues. Furthermore, I truly appreciate that the management team is understanding and accommodating of schedule conflicts as concerns have been brought up. They are a very hand-on team.

The culture at most Wellness pharmacy stores that I have been to is very upbeat and positive. I have found it easy to communicate my concerns with managers and with our support team at head office. I appreciate how responsive management has been when I have raised an issue or concern, usually replying to emails within 12 hours of them being sent. Furthermore, Wellness pharmacy group employs diverse people from various backgrounds so it’s an interesting experience to see so many different personalities in one pharmacy working  effectively together.

Wellness Pharmacy group is one of the first pharmacies to implement the home monitoring program where nurses collaborate with pharmacists to deliver daily medications to people’s houses while also assessing their heart conditions, diabetes and medication compliance amongst other things. As a pharmacist at Wellness pharmacy, you interact with many doctors and nurses on a daily basis, you interpret lab values and you can make recommendations to benefit patient care. I find working with home monitoring similar to working in primary care.

I have been with Wellness Pharmacy Group since 2013 and have held positions as a pharmacist, pharmacy manager, and operations manager. Why have I been with this organization for eight years and why am I still here? The biggest reason is that the people in this organization see me as an individual and value me as an individual. They see the value of my strengths, opportunities, experience, and commitment to my family. In addition, as an independent community pharmacy, I have found that patients recognize my expertise, know my name, and are genuinely grateful for my knowledge and assistance. At the end of the day, as a pharmacist, what matters to me is improving the health and lives of my patients, and Wellness Pharmacy enables me to do that and more.

After working for airlines in multiple countries since 1981, I was finding it very difficult to switch careers but at the same time be able to check all the boxes on my wish-list.

 I find it no less than a miracle from every angle, that I was able to find this job with Wellness Pharmacy Group. This job gives me everything that I didn’t even think I would be able find in any one job such as, very short commuting time to/from work, flexibility, variety of tasks, working outdoors instead of sitting in front of computers all day, physically & mentally active work, great Management people, etc.

I appreciate that the owners and management treat me with respect and kindness, and I have enjoyed a supportive and welcoming company culture and work environment managing one of the locations. As the manager of the Richmond location, I am enjoying my role serving my patients and clients as well as physicians to the best of my ability, to project the company ethos into my local community. I appreciate that the management at Wellness give me the space to practice pharmacy that best serves the specific needs of my community, being aware that no two locations have the same requirements and each manager should be allowed to customize their practice to best fit their demographics. Wellness Pharmacy have provided this support to me and the Richmond location.

Working for a family owned business feels more community based than a large national chain where nobody really knows anybody beyond their immediate local network.
