COVID-19 PCR Test for International Travel and Asymptomatic Individuals

Wellness Pharmacy is now offering PCR Covid-19 testing for asymptomatic individuals who require a negative COVID-19 test prior to an upcoming international flight, or asymptomatic individuals looking for a private-pay COVID-19 test.

We use a shallow nasal swab to reduce discomfort.

We offer two types of PCR tests: regular and rush. Regular PCR test results are usually available within 48 hours, but may take up to 72 hours. Rush PCR tests results are usually available within 24 hours. These tests are private pay and not covered by MSP. If you have private insurance, please inquire with your insurance company to determine if you are covered. We can provide you with a receipt for reimbursement if requested.

Rush (24 hours) PCR COVID-19 Test: $349 plus tax ($299 plus tax for groups of 2 or more)

What are the Covid-19 testing requirements for my airline or destination?

Can I go to a Public Health testing site and get a free test?

The BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) covers the Covid-19 test for symptomatic patients. If you are asymptomatic and looking to get a test for travel or other purposes, it is not covered by MSP and can’t be done by Public Health. The BCCDC website has guidance on when and where to receive a test.

When will I receive my results?

Regular PCR test results are typically available within 48 hours, but may take up to 72 hours. Rush PCR test results are typically available within 24 hours. We will contact you with the results of your test and provide you with proof for travel.

What if the timeline has passed and I have not received my result?

The timeline for results is an estimate and not a guarantee. Please call the pharmacy if the timeline for your expected results has passed.

How do I pay for my test?

When you show up for your appointment, you will be asked to pay for the test. We accept cash, debit, Visa, and MasterCard.

How many people can be tested at the same time?

Each person requires their own appointment time slot. If you are booking for a family or group, please book consecutive appointments (pending availability).

What is the PCR test?

The Covid-19 RT-PCR/NAAT Test is a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test to determine if you currently have Covid-19. It does not detect if you have had Covid-19 in the past. It is the gold standard test accepted by most countries. We use a shallow nasal swab to minimize discomfort. The swab is then sent to an accredited laboratory, and we will contact you once the results are available.

What happens after I book my test online?

After booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a link for the in-take form. Please complete the form prior to your appointment and email it to the pharmacy (contact information at the bottom of the confirmation email). Please complete the online Covid-19 screening questionnaire 24 hours prior to your appointment.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

Please bring a piece of photo ID. Passport would be preferred so we can ensure that the name on our records match the name on your passport.

What happens after I show up for my appointment?

Please inform a team member that you are there for your Covid-19 test appointment. You may be asked to wait several minutes while the pharmacist prepares the test for you. You will be asked to pay for the test prior to the swab. The pharmacist will then discuss the Covid-19 test procedure with you, and you are welcome to ask any questions. We use a shallow nasal swab to minimize discomfort. The swab itself will take less than a minute. The entire process will take about 15 to 30 minutes.

What if I want to change or cancel my appointment?

You can change or cancel your appointment using the online booking site. You can also call us to change or cancel your appointment. There is no change or cancellation fees, but we do ask that you make any changes or cancellations as soon as possible so the appointment time slot can be given to another person.
